(LADA) acts in an advisory capacity to the Bergen County Democratic Chairman and to the Democratic municipal, state and federal leaders to address matters concerning the Latino-American community. LADA formulates policy for consideration by Democratic leaders at every level of government. LADA encourages the participation of all Latinos in government, and assists in the development of Bergen County's Latino-American community.
LADA encourages Latinos to discern, decide and act on issues of public policy that affect the qulaity of their lives. LADA encourages an educated Latino electorate to thoughtfully evaluate the qualifications, goals and policies of candidates before they give them the support and confidence of their votes. LADA encourages its members to actively participate in election campaigns, and LADA encourages potential Latino Democratic leaders to become candidates for public office.
Membership in LADA is open to any interested Democrat of Latino-American origin and their spouses, parents or children who are registered Democrats. Members are encouraged to serve on various task forces of the Association.
The officers of LADA are: Mary Bustillo Donohue, President; Lucilo Santos, Vice-President; Humberto Goez, Treasurer; and Claudia Goez, Secretary. LADA dues are $25 per year, commencing in January of the current year. Dues are used to conduct LADA business and to support candidates advocating our interests.
Members are kept in touch by means of a monthly newsletter, and by meetings
called by the officers when deemed necessary. Meetiings are held at Democratic
Headquarters, 14 Souh State Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601.
